I have about four pairs of shoes to my name, so I treated myself to a couple of pairs of cute pumps for work. It's not easy to find size 7s in women's shoes.

While I would never normally touch these creatures, or in fact, pick up small critters like this without good reason, we found this beautiful specimen on a car-park a few months ago, just on the outskirts of Cannock Chase, and questioned why it was motionless. I bent down to see if it had passed away, but it fluttered a little and took a few steps. It was clearly having trouble with it's flight so I put my finger in front of it to see if it would fly away. It didn't. Instead, it clambered up on to my finger and perched itself there. It was in an awkward position so I encouraged it to move onto my hand without touching the delicate wings, where it stayed like this for a long time (long for a butterfly, anyway). I didn't want to frighten it so I moved it from the car-park onto a low, picket fence surrounded by tall grasses so that it could hide. It sat for a while on the fence and we observed it for many minutes until we decided to move on and let the little guy go about his business on his own. An old photo from a trip to Barmouth, Wales in October 2013. I found this dead crabbie on the beach and thought it wonderful how he was still intact. I figured that deserved a photo to preserve him after he was washed away into the depths of the sea.
Rich's seven-year-old German Shepherd, Shadow. She's much better for photographing than my dog as she actually stays still.
We went for a walk along the River Severn, which trails around the back of the caravan park. It's a very pretty part of Bridgnorth, where the river snakes around fields stretching along a busy road. The contrast between the two is somewhat charming, and I find it makes me feel far less alone.
Failed attempts to photograph Rich's beautiful, blue eyes. He kept moving and my camera wouldn't focus properly, but I like these shots nonetheless.
As we do on many weekends now, we spent a couple of days at the caravan in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. It was raining pretty heavily last night and the sound of the water bouncing off the roof of the caravan was comforting.
This morning, I woke up to let the dog out and the park was covered in a thick blanket of fog and dew. I inspected the trees lining the road and found these strings of web glistening with drops of crystal rain. I love this shot. I bought a pot of daffodils after Mothers' day as they were selling off the unwanted ones and I didn't want to leave any neglected. These ones are sitting in our windowsill, facing the morning light and have thrived. The other plant is from our Bamboo arrangements. I will post a full photo of them eventually, but they are basically rods of bamboo, arranged in a step formation, in a beautiful, ceramic green dish decorated with chinese writing. They appeal to my love of nature and of the orient.
